This is a demo version of BeB. It should work the same as the full version except that no file data is actually backed up, restored, or duplicated. It does create the beginning of a backup data file, but doesn't write backup data to it. I'll repeat that. NO DATA IS BACKED UP OR RESTORED. If you delete files expecting to restore them using BeB, you will be sorry. BeB is a backup program for the BeOS. It boasts many features; yet, it is also easy to setup and use. Once the program is setup, you can almost forget about it. That is, until you need it. BeB is a complete backup solution. BeB backs up a file's attributes as well as its data. BeB also backs up directories, symlinks, and their attributes. BeB includes the ability to compress data while writing to media that does not support compression natively. BeB uses Be File System queries to select which files to backup. BeB consists of two programs. The main user interface ("BeB") and a daemon process ("BeBDaemon"). BeBDaemon is a very small, background only, application. When it is time to perform an automatic backup, BeBDaemon will wake up and check to see if the main application BeB is running. If it is not, BeBDaemon will start BeB. It will then send a message to BeB telling it to start backing up a particular Catalog. Our Review:
