GPSy is a Macintosh based Global Positioning System (GPS) communications program. GPSy connects to compatible GPS units, Loran-C, and other navigational units and displays current coordinates (latitude/longitude & UTM), altitude, bearing, heading, speed over ground, velocity made good, distance to go, current waypoint, GPS satellite data, and more. GPSy can use commercial CD-ROM databases, user-scanned maps, and Internet map servers for a real-time navigational display.
Our Review: GPSy accepts input from GPS units and translates the data into information on your Mac such as your location, heading, velocity, which satellities your GPS unit is using to track position, and additional information if available - such as altitude and magnetic declination. Data input is monitored in GPS native code which allows GPSy to provide GPS data logging. Location info is plotted on a beautiful full-colour world map to reassure you that you might not be off the face of the planet after all!
