ClearSide
ClearSide is a utility that allows you to change the look of the MacOS when it's starting up. You know that smiling MacOS logo? Don't like it? You do like it but you think it's time for something else to be shown? We'll just help you accomplish that! You can have practically every picture on your startupscreen with ClearSide. Oh sure, you could do that before as well, using the 'StartupScreen' files. But that doesn't offer the features ClearSide does; You really like the progress bar, and the confirmation that the extensions have been turned off when you hold down the shiftkey? Too bad; StartupScreen files disable all that. That's where ClearSide comes in; ClearSide alters the System file directly, replacing the old smiling face with something different. If you used ClearSide to install a ClearSide StartupSkin, it will even alter the messages (i.e.; 'Extensions Disabled', 'Welcome to MacOS', 'Debugger Installed', etc) with the ones installed in that skin. Our Review: ClearSide allows you to implement a startup screen on your Mac. It differs from the usual way of simply placing a picture in the system folder however - ClearSide gently places the startup picture within the system so that progress bars, startup info, debugger info etc. are all preserved. Using the included ClearSide Creator lets you also customise the Welcome message and other system messages present at startup. A cool tool for Mac happiness.
