Black & Bleu is an application that shows you the meaning of all of the documented and many of the undocumented Mac OS error codes. Many codes include information about what might be the cause of the error and what you can do about it.
The database contains over 3,300 error codes with Apple's short explanations of each. Our detailed explanations and remedies are included for the most common of these errors. The type of detailed information can be selected from 2 categories: a Non-technical User orientation and a Programmer orientation. The Non-technical User explanation is presented in a way that someone without a programming background can understand. The Programmer explanation is written in VERY technical terms that usually includes source code that demonstrates the error. To fully understand the Programmer explanation, you should be familiar with Macintosh programming (in C or C++).
Our Review: Black & Bleu provides explanations of errors within the Mac OS and, for older macs, also provides explanations of the 'Sad Mac' errors that used to send a chill up my spine when they occurred on my poor Mac LC. Three explanations are provided - the official Apple explanation, a User explanation, and a Programmer's explanation. Black & Bleu is an essential tool if you wish to break through the jargon of computers and have the computer give you a reasonable explanation as to why your word-processor chose to crash when you reached the end of the 15th page of your unsaved document.
