In a flash of inspiration you can use Idea Keeper to preserve the idea in its entirety over its multi-level hierarchical interface. The concept is one of free-form idea mapping; Idea Keeper allows you to organise your ideas and data in any way you wish - and provides many ways of searching and recovering the data stored in your idea database. You can even get to relevant parent ideas by searching through all the object files (such as pictures) to find the drawing you remember scribbling and thereby find the idea you associated it with.
