Tune In to the world of MP3 music files with TuneZilla! WAY COOL!! This program automatically finds, downloads, and plays music and video files from Usenet. It gets MP3, AVI, and MPG multipart files from Usenet. The Problem: Music and video files are very large. Because of that fact, they are usually stored on Usenet as many small fragments instead of one huge file. This technique is called "multipart posting" and it causes some unique problems (parts can be missing, out of order, etc). Effectively managing multipart files is a complex matter and requires software specifically designed for the task. Ordinary newsreader programs were intended to read news, not to deal with internet music and video. Newsreaders just aren't up to the task! The Solution: TuneZilla is specially designed, programmed, and optimized to deal with multipart files. It's been there and done that! TuneZilla is smart. It analyzes the newsgroups you select to see if large multipart files (such as an MP3's) are intact and capable of being assembled before it even attempts a download. Many multipart files have missing parts and just waste your time if you attempt to get them with ordinary news reader programs. TuneZilla won't waste your time - it delivers! Our Review: Having just played about with Pluckit Media Studio, TuneZilla came as kind of a surprise. It appears to be the same program (from the same developer), which means a functional, yet rather clumsy USENET MP3 searcher - only it features some more colourful graphics including a big cartoon dragon (the titular 'Zilla' one presumes?). Although apparently aimed at kids, TuneZilla does everyhing that PMS can and more. Dragon or no dragon - you be the judge.
