The RobFantastic MP3 Networked Encoder is the only MP3 encoder on the market to use all the machines on your LAN to encode a batch of wave files to MP3 files. Blade’s MP3 encoder engine is included with the program, so that you don’t need to find Fraunhofer’s codec before using the encoder. Xing’s MP3 command-line encoder is also supported, but progress bars aren’t filled in during the encoding run.
Our Review: What we've got here is a classic case of stupid name, excellent program. Not only is this an excellent stand-alone MP3 encoder that comes with the blade engine built-in, but it also encodes across LANs. Why anyone would want to do this is a bit of a mystery to us, but reasons could include saving time by having 10 machines all encoding at once or perhaps if different songs were available on different PCs. Whatever the case, it does it well, and is highly recommended for anyone wanting an encoder. It has variable bitrates and a whole range of useful options. Whoever Rob is, he should be proud there is such a fine product carrying his name.
