SpinStation is software for your PC that allows you to play music directly from your computer's hard disk. Forget about lugging around crates of records or stacks of CDs. With SpinStation, all your songs (10,000 or more, depending on the size of your drive) are available at the touch of a button. SpinStation was designed to be a replacement for turntables or CD based mixers. Just about anything you can do on vinyl or with a CD based mixer can be done with SpinStation...and more! SpinStation is available in two flavors. With the software-only version, you supply the PC, add an extra sound card and you're ready to start mixing! With a prebuilt system, we provide everything for you, simply plug it in and you're ready to play! Our Review: At first I was ready to dismiss this as poorly coded junk - the way this program handles open windows alone is reason enough to trash it. Unfortunately, after reading about SpinStation on the developer website, it seemed that this program was more than just an ugly face. SpinStation allows you, with power of two soundcards, to do professional mixing and beat-matching from your PC. Support is included for a joystick to get that scratching down-pat and an inbuilt database feature allows you to organise your entire collection in such a way as to be able to find any song (with any beat) at any time. Shortcut keys allow you to set permanent cue points and adjust pitch on-the-fly - an advantage no vinyl dj ever had. If you choose to upgrade there are more features to aid you - such as an automatic beat matcher and mp3 encoder. Tricky - but most likely worth it.
