LimeWire is a software package which enables individuals to search for and share computer files with anyone on the internet. LimeWire is compatible with the Gnutella file-sharing protocol and can connect with anyone else running Gnutella-compatible software. LimeWire will also connect, via the internet, to a specialized intelligent Gnutella router at startup to maximize the user's viewable network space. Our Review: The best attempt at 'Napsterising' Gnutella that we've ever seen! LimeWire is about as simple and effective as a Gnutella clone can get, with such useful options as the ability to search for specific files types, the ability to have search tabs to keep track of multiple searches, and much more. You can also filter searches to save time and browse file hosts, and it will automatically connect you to the best GNU servers on startup. It seems very solid and a lot of the downloads worked very well and at a reasonable speed. If you after a Gnutella clone, this is it. A little big on the download size, but this is well worth it!
