Die Jukebox ist ein Programm, welches einen "normalen" Windows 95/98/ME Rechner zu einer vollwertigen Jukebox wandelt, die selbständig oder interaktiv auf einer Party für Musik sorgt. Hierbei werden diverse MP3 Dateien verwendet, die der Administrator beim Start (oder auch automatisiert) dem Jukebox-Archiv hinzufügen kann. Diese Dateien werden dann in einer Liste angezeigt, aus welcher dann wärend des eigentlichen Betriebs die Teilnehmer der Party sich ihre Lieblingsstücke auswählen können. Diese Titel werden dann in einer "Playlist" vorgehalten und nacheinander gespielt. Hierbei wird der WinAMP als eigentlicher Player verwendet. Die Jukebox ist so konzipiert, dass sie auch alleine Titel nach dem Zufallsprinzip aus der Liste auswählt, und somit einen kontinuierlichen Musikfluss gewährleistet. Our Review: MP3 Jukebox makes a valiant attempt to transform your humble desktop PC into a digital jukebox. Once you have selected your MP3 directory (it handles this recursively, which is nice) you are presented with big, colourful and highly attractive jukebox interface which lists all of your files, enabling users to browse your songs, search your songs and request a song which is then added to the playlist. You can even add comments to songs which could do everything from provide background info to recommend similar tracks. MP3 Jukebox is an original, and for the most part it performs beautifully. Unfortunately I had a few problems. Firstly - everything was in German, despite choosing 'English' from the settings. Perhaps due to this language barrier (as the help was limited - and in German), or perhaps due to a more serious problem MP3 Jukebox seems to think that it is a REAL jukebox. This means you can't skip tracks, you can't change volume and the only way to stop it is to pull the plug. (literally, I had to restart my PC just to exit the darn thing!). A great idea, and it certainly looks the part - but MP3 Jukebox has some major problems to work out first.
