The new PC Windows (95/98/ME/2000) version of MED Soundstudio can be considered as a Stereo Tracker/MIDI Sequencer which offers the user a vast range of real-time effects, sample editing and file format plugins. It gives PC owners the chance to produce tracks of their own. It does not require any additional hardware, although it can be used to control midi equipment if required. Many of the software apps currently available on the PC are limited as to the flexibility given to the user, MED is very Flexible! MED Soundstudio gives the user total and full control over what is produced, allowing them to develop and become their own studio engineer. It allows the user full control over the MED ‘Module’ via a simple windows interface. The quick editing facilities of the former Amiga versions remain in the MED Soundstudio for the PC, along with all the other features that MED users have come to expect. Our Review: MED SoundStudio has a long history dating back to the days when the Amiga 500 was king of home computing. Thankfully, as technology has changed, SoundStudio has changed with it and now it offers some of the most advacned and unique digital audio composing available for Windows. Having said that, the interface is a nightmare for beginners and despite a comprehensive help system it will take many hours to figure out just what the hell is going on. However, for those serious about composing, MED SoundStudio is worth a try. The features are staggering, the final output can be much more than a midi (you can create MP3s and more with the new plug-in options) and it has a loyal following. Get it.
