Despite an attractive interface and a lovely list of features it suffers from a large number of flaws, which in the highly competitive world of audio software are somewhat disappointing. For the most part these bugs are small but quite frustrating. When you try to play a file from one of the different tool windows it will always play the file selected in the catalog window instead, the 'remove' command didn't seem to funciton at all etc. The biggest single problem facing MP3 Toolbox however has to be it's audio encoding - in fact it doesn't even have an option to encode. Instead 'incoding' was actually an unexplained part of the 'decode' feature and painfully slow to boot. To add a more positive spin I must confess that the catalog filtering and ID-Tagging was superlative - but not quite enough to save this one from the realms of mediocrity.
