MP3 Collector is a fast and flexible MP3 collection manager, ID3 tag editor, file renamer and playlist manager. The collection manager is based on the popular Music Collector and Movie Collector products. It creates a database by scanning your harddisks, CDs and network for MP3 files. You can group, sort and filter the resulting database in a configurable Explorer-type interface, even when the actual MP3 files are not available. The ID3 tagger supports batch updating of both ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags with data retrieved from the filename, existing tags or manual input. The tagger preview allows you to review the new tags before they are updated. MP3 Collector can batch rename files to any format, using the available tag or database information. Again, a preview shows the changes before they are made. Other features: supports .M3U and .PLS playlist formats, configurable list printing, export to ASCII and HTML, graphical statistics. Our Review: Well golly! Collectorz.com Music Collector is a pretty good music collection manager. It lets you do all sorts of magic stuff with your list of tracks, CDs, MP3s and whatevers. Such magic features include the ability to lookup CDDB data for many CDs using the Batch Scan function and the ability to export your database to ASCII or HTML format. Its excellent interface makes compiling and browsing your database easy - album cover-art can even be included in the records. Finally - a unique feature that I haven't seen in other CDDB database utilities is the ability to browse the contents of the CDDB for information on music that you don't have access to. Nice all around - does the job of managing your music collection with flair.
