When TheKnob is running, an icon will appear in the system tray (by the clock). Move the mouse pointer over the icon. Press and hold the left mouse button to gradually decrease the level of the mixer line TheKnob is controlling. You will notice that the icon actually turns to provide a graphic representation of the current level. Clicking on the right mouse button will of course increase the level. Our Review: While the standard Windows volume-mixer is extremely simple to use, and sitting right there in your system tray - it is still a hassle if you are a) impatient or b) frequently changing levels. If you fall into either of these categories then TheKnob is for you. It sits in your system tray and allows the volume to be increased and decreased with one click of the mouse button (you can set which mixer line you wish to change with a few more clicks). As far as time-saving measures go this is perfect - it does its job and is totally free. Hurrah.
