The Tassman Builder is used to create synthesizers and instruments. Constructing instruments is very easy and straightforward. One first selects modules from the Tassman library and then connects them together in order to create a patch. Modules are units that either produce or transform sound in a particular manner. They each have a certain number of inputs and outputs which are used to transmit signals from one module to another and which can be interconnected by using wires, just like real hardware. The Tassman Player is then called to play patches that have been made with the Builder.
Our Review: A very powerful and tweakable soft synth creation program. Modules/Samples are constructed much like an actual synth with the initial input being wired through many filters and patches to construct the sound. A fair amount of technical synth knowledge is needed ( if you don't know your oscillators then you're in trouble! ). Quite a complicated program but its power comes from its wide range of options. Tassman has an attractive and user friendly interface, more so than many of the soft synths out there. All the usual MIDI features are here such as syncing to or from your MIDI keyboard. In the demo the record and save features are disabled. A brilliant program if you know what you're doing!
