Project Risk Analysis is for Cost Engineering and Project
Management pros who must develop cost estimates of known
accuracy and risk on capital investment projects. Uses Monte
Carlo Simulation to find the contingency needed to achieve
any desired level of confidence. All statistical models are
already set up. Output in graphical and tabular form.
Spreadsheets can be imported as ASCII text. Full manual and
tutorials included as Word 97 (tm) documents in evaluation
version.
Our Review: Project Risk Analysis is a specialised spreadsheet program that aids engineering consultants in predicting the total expected costs of upcoming projects. Each component of the project is entered with an associated typical cost, upper and lower limits, and a specification of whether possible variations in the cost of that component can be modelled by a triangular, normal, or lognormal (skewed) distribution. Contingency analysis is then performed using the Monte Carlo method of simulation - where random data is fed into the model over and over until a total cost distribution is obtained. In this way you can use Project Risk Analysis to produce expected median and mean costs, as well as probability graphs and descriptive statistical summaries. The results obtained are well worth downloading Project Risk Analysis for.
