Freecharts SE is a charting program that will import end-of-day prices and display them as OHLC bar charts, Candlesticks and Line charts. You can select one to three moving average overlays and display MACD, RSI, Volume and Momentum charts in the lower windows. You can draw trend lines, support/resistance lines and fibonacci retracements on any chart, and print the results in full colour or black and white.
Apart from charting features, Freecharts also has a powerful formula-parsing routine which allows instant testing of entry and exit strategies. Enter your own formulae like 'close > previous close and volume > previous volume * 2' and buy and sell indicators will appear on the current chart wherever your conditions occur.
You can import as many companies as you like, and the program is flexible enough to work with any stock or commodity.
Our Review: This program came highly recommended from users that have previously downloaded it - but some patience is required in figuring out how to make use of its capabilities. Essentially, Freecharts allows you to import stockmarket data (available freely from the web) and generate various styles of graphs to faciliate your analysis. Charts available include Candlestick, OCLH, and a simple linechart. Overlaying abilities allow you to integrate additional data with your chart to provide greater visual interpretation. Freecharts also has its own programming capabilities that allow you to program your own advanced formulae for analysis purposes - allowing you to create and test trading strategies. The mere fact that it is freeware, and that the features seem bountiful, is reason enough to download Freecharts.
