ROOMS 3d desktops give you wallpapers to walk into and 3d icons to move among. You organize your desktop as a virtual reality world (just like a 3d game).
ROOMS is fast and flexible. FreeWare ROOMS has no timeout and lets you download new worlds from the ROOMS Web site. You can drag and drop new icons into the world from explorer to mimic any folder, including the desktop. ROOMS icons are like Windows shortcuts, and can alo stand for internet addresses.
PayWare ROOMS lets you create and distribute new worlds.
Features: full 3d rotation, motion and view: gravity and speed control: animate objects, textures and sounds: zoom: map view: skyboxes: multiple resolution and color depth: OpenGL and DirectX support: drag-drop-cut-paste: timer events: 3d object creation: Wizards to make everything easy plus comprehensive F1 help.
We publish CoolWare addons every two weeks, which deliver new worlds, new textures and new objects to help both FreeWare and PayWare users get the most out of ROOMS 3d desktops.
Our Review: ROOMS 3d desktops is a great 3d desktop. It combines a Doom like 3d engine with Windows, letting you explorer 3d maps, and create icon cubes or spheres or whatever. Maps can be imported from the main site to add in the paid version, while the free version is more limited in this fashion. ROOMS 3d desktops sits on top of the desktop, so 'Show Desktop' will show the Windows desktop, while 'minimize all' will reveal Rooms 3d desktops. 3d acceleration is a huge plus, as this program has great (fun) uses.
