We call LIFE4S9 (pronounced ‘Life Force Nine’) a screen dancer, but it is what is more commonly called a ‘screen saver.’ Monitors don’t really need to be ‘saved’ anymore; that’s a carry over from the old days when leaving a monitor on and unchanged too long could cause a shadow image to burn-in. But sometimes our weary minds do. So these days screen savers are for entertainment value only. And LIFE4S9 entertains!
LIFE4S9 utilizes Direct-X, the same technology most graphics-rich computer games require. Windows 98 ships with Direct-X, and most versions of Windows 95 did as well.
Our Review: This screensaver is best described as a trip into psychaedelia. It has over 50 different types of Kaleidoscope. It is quite customizable with different types of transitions between patterns and everything being random or ordered. Another excellent feature is that it can play MP3 files during the screensaver. All in all, Life Force Nine is probably one of the best screensavers I have seen and will be enjoyed by people from all walks of life.
