Light Panel
Light Panel was designed to be an easy way to run programs. It is a very small application that stays on the Windows desktop. Light Panel contains all your favorite programs, links, documents and urls that you place on it. Just drag-and-drop any object from an Explorer window to the Light Panel bar. Clicking on appeared icon will run linked program or, if it is document, its associated program. Also you can create buttons for exploring any folder on your computer as a multi-item menu. The program allows to have an unlimited amount of icons for files at its bar. The number of folder speed buttons depends on width of screen. It is posiible to name any folder speed button or item icon as you wish and reorder its. Light Panel has another very usefull ability - it may quick store you notes into any text file you select. For example, if you are reading mail and see an interesting paragraph that you wish to store for futher reading, you can just select by mouse this part of text, copy it to clipboard and click on the Light Panel icon in tray. Light Panel will scan clipboard for your text and store it into a file. The name of the file may be choosen by you. To do this, press right mouse button on Light Panel tray icon, select "Files" in appeared menu and pick "Create new..." item. You will be prompted for new notes file name. So you can have many notes files for various themes and switch between them. Also, it is possible to view and edit your current notes file by choosing the corresponding item of Light Panel tray menu. Our Review: Light Panel is not a replacement for the StartMenu but rather an add-on. It resides on the System Tray and provides quick and easy access to clipboard utilites. The toolbar is excellent because it is easier to customize categories and is nicer to the eyes.
