AbiWord is an "Open Source" word processor. Our Review: AbiWord is free, no fees at all, and the source code is available for those who want to alter or help its development. It is still being written (so some advanced features aren't implemented) but most things like alignment, sizing, fonts and opening Word documents all work. Promotes OpenSource and productive software.
