Sevensteps is a product that helps you develop a professional online help system for your company's custom-made applications. The seven steps are the stages a documentation team passes through while producing a professional online help system. Offering all the valuable experiences of professional technical writers, Sevensteps is designed to fit readily into the development process. It structures the design of the online help under construction, and gives you a clear overview of the online help. By narrowing down difficult choices about the design of the help system, Sevensteps lets you focus on the actual writing of the help.
Our Review: Wow, what a great product! Sevensteps has an excellent interface and is packed full of features which allow you to quickly (actually, there's a 1 hour tutorial if you're keen - but I prefer to jump straight in) and easily produce HTML style help files. Each page can be easily accessed and edited, and links quickly established between pages. My favourite feature was the provision of templates, for instance a nicely laid out Q&A template, where you just fill in the questions and answers as appropriate. If you have a large help system to write, it pays to be organised, and Sevensteps will ensure you are. This trial version is limited to 15 help pages and requires Internet Explorer 5.
