Math Arcade has 8 different games with 5 skill levels each.
There is a practice and an arcade mode. In arcade mode, the users compete for a high score in each game based on correct answers and quick response.
The games include Lightning Addition, Subtraction, and Multiplication which simulate flash card learning. Complex Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, and Division simulate standard long hand form with the program guiding the user via entry boxes. Equation builder is a numeric goal oriented game with building block numbers and operators given. Summary reports are shown after every arcade round. From 1 to 4 players.
See the in-game documentation for more detailed descriptions of each game.
Our Review: I wish I'd had Math Arcade when I was at school. Although a solid math-drill utility, Math Arcade really excels as a learning aid. The traditional endless supply of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division questions are present, but Math Arcade forces the user to input the answer just as one would were they in a written exam. This, of course means carrying all the ones and doing the dreaded long divsion step by step - beautiful. Math Arcade also features a colourful, funky interface and a neat side-game the 'arcade equation builder' which tests quick mental planning as well as maths skills. Almost as much fun as a real arcade, and only a fraction of the price.
