Flying Fox is a "scientific data visualization" application. Its displays databases, usually numerical, in ways that make it easier to understand the data. In other words, it’s "graphing on steroids." Flying fox DOES NOT DO TRADITIONAL GRAPHS that any spreadsheet can produce. Instead, it displays data in other formats, such as: waves, spectrograms, frequency analysis, bitmaps, contours, lattices, flow charts, Gaussian scatter graphs, 3D scatter graphs, 3D topography, and 3D physical simulation data.
Our Review: This is pretty neat - by the author's own admission, the interface is not as intuitive as it could be so Flying Fox takes a fair bit of time to get to grips with but, crucially, it's worth it. There's a plethora of representation options available and you get the chance to mess with color schemes and rotation scales as well as the less fun stuff regarding your Xs & Ys. If you're into Metrics, Stats or the Sciences then the 15 day trial should be enough to realise just what this excellent 'work-in-progress' can do for you - feedback is greatly appreciated by Mike Rozak for improvements for later versions.
