Our Review: While there is a bit of debate amoung members of the gaming community regarding the need for a Quake 3 Team Arena, given the fact that the Quake series has been known for its deathmatch experience, it is still a fine game. It plays similarly to the other Quake games in that it involves a lot of hopping about the place and nuking people, but it is the new game types that will interest most fans. It has Capture the Flag, Overlord (destroy the other teams base), Harvester, and several other teamplay games. Overall the game is excellent, with nice visuals and a better than average AI coding. However, this type of gameplay (i.e. lots of frags, lots of hopping, and a sci-fi look) has lost popularity over the past year to more realistic teamplay excursions such as the excellent Counter-Strike mod for Half Life, as well as the various Unreal Tournament mods out there such as Tactical Ops and Strike Force. Recommended mainly for fans of the series and those of you who want a team experience that is easy to pick up and put down.
