Our Review: As the digital age rolls on the home entertainment system and the PC are going to become increasingly integrated and ShowShifter is right at the forefront, offering a complete audiovisual system from your PC. While playing your MP3s and DVDs is nothing that new, ShowShifter really pushes the envelope with the TiVO style digital recording of television, meaning you will no longer need the old VCR and offers the remarkable option to pause live TV and watch the rest later (providing you have the disk space, which gets chewed up real fast). In terms of interface, ShowShifter has gone the whole hog, with a large colourful menu designed to be viewed from across the room and the option to add in a remote control for the ultimate comfort and ease. It's still early days for ShowShifter, and it isn't very friendly (setting up your music and video files is an absolute dog of a task!), but with improved performance and technology the potential is huge - those with the right hardware shouldn't hesitate it giving it a go.
