The Power Image Classifier (PIC) is a tool that classifies and finds image files based upon their visual content. It uses templates, which are user-created lists of words or phrases that define characteristics that may be present in an image. Any characteristic deemed pertinent to a certain subject can be contained in a template. Images are classified according to whether or not they contain characteristics defined in a template. A picture of a rose might be classified as having characteristics such as "rose", "plant", "petal", "thorn", "fragrance", "red", "yellow", etc. These and other descriptive terms might be contained in a template named "flowers". Our Review: Once you have this running you'll find Power Image Classifier to be a useful tool in organising your large collection of images. Power Image Classifier allows you to create custom 'template' files based on your own generic-looking images. The templates can then be used to compare with all of your other images and pictures that match will be grouped in the same folder as the original template image. In this way you can swiftly group together all your pictures of flowers in one flower, dogs in another, and people in a third. The interface is a little clunky, and getting to grips with the way it requires you to create templates before searching for images was unnerving - but nonetheless a great way to automate an otherwise arduous task.
