Home Planet is a Microsoft Windows application which calculates the position of the Earth, Sun, Moon, planets, asteroids, comets, and Earth satellites with high accuracy and provides the following capabilities: Map of the Earth Sun/Moon information panel Planetary position panel Sky map Telescope display Orrery Satellite tracking panel Satellite database selection Horizon view... Our Review: Home Planet is an innovative astronomy package with the usual features (moon tracking, sky maps etc.) all comprehensively covered while giving the user a few addition features that make this a worthy addition to the likes of such programs as Distant Suns. The map of the world is customisable, as is the icon for the satellites which Home Planet so kindly tracks for you (I was amazied by how many of the little buggers are up there!). The 'View of Earth' feature allows you to view earth from an interesting range of vantage-points while the animated option gives you a sweeping view of what goes on in our skies. Deceptively humble, there is a lot to find beneath the surface of Home Planet, and considering it won't cost you a penny you'd be a fool not to give it a try.
