Air Messenger is a simple to use application that will allow you to send Alphanumeric Message to Cellular Phones and other Alphanumeric Pagers. There are three ways this can be accomplished. One is to use a modem and dial into the Paging Network or if you are connected to a LAN and your Network Administrator has setup the Air Messenger LAN Server, you can send a page over your LAN and the Air Messenger LAN Server will forward your page to the Paging Network or if you have a permanent connection or dial-up connection to the Internet, you can send pages via SNPP (Simple Network Paging Protocol) if the provider has a SNPP Gateway such as Nextel. By using the Air Messenger LAN Server or Internet, you eliminate the need to have access to a dialup line which may not be available to you.
Air Messenger also supports ETAP or the Enhanced TAP Protocol. The ETAP protocol allows for a 2-way communications link with the SMS (Short Messaging System) terminal to be established, this allows you to be able to get delivery confirmations, update or delete undelivered messages. This protocol is used with most Digital Cellular SMS systems.
Our Review: This is an interestingly handy application that will forward user defined messages to Pagers or Cellular Phones. You need to either dial in to a node of the Paging Network, or access an SNPP gateway in order to use the software.
