iSpeed is a utility that will help to optimize your networking
connections - both ethernet and modem (dialup networking). It
does this by manipulating the Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU),
Maximum Segment Size (MSS), Receive Window (RWIN), Time To Live
(TTL), MTU Auto Discovert, Black Hole detection and NDI Cachesize.
These items are relatively undocumented by Microsoft, and fine
tuning them can have a dramatic effect on your throughput (both
positive and negative).
Our Review: iSpeed is a handy test utility that will monitor your download speeds (via its testing interface) and recommend settings changes within your Windows registry. You simply download a file using different speed settings each time, and then let the program work out the best connection options for your machine. iSpeed maximises several key features of data transfer, such as block size and maximum transmission unit. Very Good!
