NetCaptor can best be described as a custom browser application. NetCaptor is a standalone application that uses services provided by Microsoft Internet Explorer to render and navigate HTML. NetCaptor currently requires Internet Explorer 4/5 to be installed on the client computer in order to function. NetCaptor runs under Windows 95,98,NT4 and Win2000 and requires that IE is installed (though you don't have to use it).
Our Review: NetCaptor is a very viable alternative to Internet Explorer - the interface is very familar and it uses the same engine. Where NetCaptor differs, however, is that many refinements have been made to make NetCaptor simpler but more effective. These refinements include placing the security options all in their own easily-accessible menu (allowing ActiveX, cookies etc. to be disabled/enabled quickly), and the inclusion of tab-based browser system. The tab-based browser system means that each new window opened will have its own window-tab at the base of your screen - allowing you to move between browser windows with ease. Other little features, such as the ability to disable loading images with a single click, make NetCaptor an excellent way to browse.
