Adfilter
Adfilter is a non-proxy filtering suite which offers 3 separate functions: advert filtering, adult content filtering and cookie filtering. Advert filtering includes the following: pop-up windows, banner ads, image ads, adult promotions, IFrame ads, Java applets, javascript, embedded ads, MIDI sounds and more. The trial is currently up to 10,000 ads filtered. There is an ad counter in the menu (among other things). The ad filtering function accelerates browsing and the page is reformatted after ad removal. The adult content filtering blocks not only sites with pornographic content but also violence/hate etc sites. The cookie filter removes only referer cookies - the ones that send information about you to third parties. Once installed, AdFilter sits in your system tray and allows you to simply turn off ads, block offensive material and protect your privacy. Other features include a daily update of the filters, user-defined exceptions and statistics, as well as a high degree of customisablity. Most importantly however, it works a treat. Highly recommended.
