AdFree filters your web connections as you surf, blocking the sites that provide banners. Unlike most other ad blockers, AdFree does not use proxies; it utilizes the Windows "Hosts" file. It also has the ability to block any server you do not want to access, including adult sites. Our Review: AdFree is a small freeware utility that modifies your local host file, so add machines are foiled. It comes with a few common servers of its own, and you can fairly easily manually add your own. It catches the requests for ads, and replaces it with its own picture, from the defaults of a colored or transparent box, to the amusing 'Got Milk?' and other pictures *you* *can* specify*. AND AdFree is freeware. This program rocks. Get it. Now.
