Unimobile works independent of any single wireless operator, device or proprietary standard. The backbone of Unimobile is the Unimobile Virtual Network(UVN). Your Unimobile uses the UVN to send messages to the users of mobile phone and pager service providers worldwide. The UVN connects to mobile devices worldwide with the help of the web and email gateways of these service providers. Due to the flexibility and robustness of the UVN, you can connect to mobile devices all over the world without worrying about the receiver’s service provider, hardware or geographical location.
Our Review: This application is slightly similar to ICQ but you cannot share files or chat. Instead, you are able to send short messages (SMS) to people's mobiles, or to their Unimobile account. This is done via the interface that takes the appearance of a (gasp!) mobile phone. The interface is skinnable, and is quite a looker. Unfortunately, prettiness won't get you everywhere, and Unimobile lacks in feature scope. Luckily, it is good at what it does do (so long as you don't live in Timbuktu, as coverage may be limited in some areas).
