The website contains instructions on what to do if it isn't fully removed i.e. how to change your start page, remove the signature line from your e-mail, etc. The reason behind this program's release arose from several 'issues' with the ActiveX 'enhancements' which actively extend over your computer and add 'features', such as changing the signature line of all your outgoing e-mail to "Click here for Free Video!! http://www.gohip.com/freevideo/", and making GoHip your default homepage and search page. Those enchancements gave you pop-up advertisements when you close or open your browser and displayed a banner ad at the top of your screen. Basically, it turned your computer into a walking advertisement for the sake of a few free videos. The 'Browser Enhancement' was supposed to be simply an ActiveX plugin which allowed you to view videos from their website. All that originally came up was an ActiveX installer screen asking you if you wished to install the GoHip browser enhancement screen from GoHip Inc. which gave absolutely no warning about the ensuing advertisements. The main issue contested was that there was no easily visible EULA and just a whole lot of fine print. The statement informing you that the advertisements and other features would be added appeared only in the license agreement when you installed the software - the problem being that most people don't read the EULA, assuming instead that everything is fair and nothing bad ever comes from it. Technically, you agree to install the software and advertisements when you click "yes", whether you have read the license agreement or not. However, for most people it was merely an unwelcome infestation of their computer, and they were justifiably unhappy about it.
