The Sleuthhound is an easy-to-use personal hard drive search engine that operates like a web browser on your hard drive. Create "Search Zones" with the 1-2-3 wizard. Folders and directories and entire drives can be included and updated in search zones. Searches can be done by keyword (one, several, many), or with questions and phrases. Boolean searches and use of wildcards are also available. Keyword location is instant and documents are retrieved and displayed with the document title, file-name, icon, folder location and keyword context. Results are displayed in a web-like browser. View multiple occurrences of your search word in the results browser. Single-click opening of document in the associated application. Easy update of search zones is available through a built in scheduler and can be done automatically when Windows starts by placing The Sleuthhound in the Start-Up group. The Sleuthhound has a simple to use interface. Select the Search Zone, enter the keyword, click 'Find it'. Instant keyword result and display in the browser. Our Review: Does the standard Windows search option just not do it for you anymore? Require something with a little more intelligence? The Sleuthhound! is a tool that will index documents on your computer and then allow you to search through them all with lightning speed for specified keywords. The setup wizard makes initial configuration quite easy and the main search window is as straight-forward as they come. All in all, a useful program if you remember a phrase you read/wrote but can't remember what file it was in.
