Windows Commander is a file manager for Windows, a tool like the Explorer or file manager, which comes with windows. But Windows Commander uses a different approach: it has two fixed windows, which makes copying files much easier. Wincmd exists in two versions, 16 and 32 bit. While the 16-bit version runs fine also in 32-bit Windows, the 32-bit version cannot be used in Windows 3.1.
Our Review: Windows Commander is designed as an alternative to Windows Explorer. While Windows Commander could be very useful for the more experienced techno buff, it is not really one for the beginner. It has a very basic ASCII type interface, which really only adds to the benefit as there are no excess functions sucking up RAM. Overall, a little ugly on the looks side, but it is a very comprehensive alternative to the standard Windows functions that it replaces. This version compares files and synchronises directories.
