SafeHouse for Windows from PC Dynamics is the key to PC data privacy. Using SafeHouse, you can allocate a portion of your existing hard drive(s) to be reserved for encrypted data. This is accomplished using the create encrypted volume utility. SafeHouse encrypted volumes appear on your PC as another Windows drive letter. All encryption is performed automatically and transparently on the fly. You can do anything with a SafeHouse drive that you can do with a normal hard drive; only that with SafeHouse, the encrypted volume requires password authentication before the files become accessible. Our Review: SafeHouse goes far above and beyond the call of duty in the field of high-tech software security. Using SafeHouse allows you to partition off a portion of your hard drive to behave as a data 'safehouse' from which point access to that data is only available through SafeHouses sophisticated security measures. The retail version of SafeHouse uses methods of encryption which, using current hacking techniques, would take well over 1 billion years to crack. This trial version only uses 40-bit encryption. SafeHouse has extensive features allowing it to be used as a complete data-security implementation on a large network - with the ability for several security administrators to be empowered with the ability to provide backdoor access to data whose password has been forgotten. Complete integration with ActivCards is also included which requires users to possess an actual physical card for access. Impressive security with excellent documentation and wizards.
