zSlam is an mp3 alarm clock that works on the Microsoft platform. You can use zSlam
as you would any normal alarm clock. However, zSlam will play the mp3 or wav files you have
on your computer.
zSlam does offer the unique feature of voice interaction (Windows 95,98). If you have the proper sound
card and a microphone, you can simply say "snooze" and zSlam will allow you to sleep for
a few more minutes. If you are using 2000 or NT, just Slam! your keyboard or click your mouse.
zSlam will also remember you custom settings. If you have a certain time that you always
up at and a particular song that you would like to hear every morning, you can set those
options up in the "User Preferences" menu option.
Our Review: Although most people don't sleep with a running-PC by their bed, there are times when an alarm can come in handy, and it is while hiding in your system tray zSlam probably operates best. zSlam can play a song (or loud annoying WAV if you wish) at an appointed time reminding you you have a meeting, need to make a phone call or that you have been playing games seven hours and you really should make a start on that essay. There is no complex scheduling or multiple alarms, only good old snooze mode and a nifty voice-activated shutoff. Does the job.
