CatFish is a disk catalog browser. It allows you to save snapshots of the
directory/file structure of your disks and to search through them at any
time. The catalog files maintained by CatFish are very compact and fast,
and can easily handle the huge directory trees often found on large disks,
removable disks, and CD-ROMs. CatFish will calculate total subdirectory
sizes, and lists the date of the newest file found inside each directory.
You can search all catalogs by file name (wildcards), size, and/or date.
When used in Win 95/NT, CatFish will recognize and store long file names.
Furthermore, CatFish can be used as an application or document launcher.
Our Review: This piece of catalogue software isn't ladened with features - but that isn't the point. CatFish is a very fast, very small, and very portable disk catalog utility. Weighing in at a mere 220k, CatFish is excellent to carry on a disk and use to catalog any computer you require a catalog of. No installation is needed; the program runs as a complete stand-alone. Catalog files, once saved, can be browsed from any machine and directory listings can be exported to text files. A handy search function is included that can search by name, date, or size. It's open-source too! Three thumbs up.
