CommView is a program for monitoring network activity capable of capturing and analyzing packets on any Ethernet network. It gathers information about data flowing on a LAN and decodes the analyzed data. With CommView you can see the list of network connections, vital IP statistics, and examine individual packets. IP packets are decoded down to the lowest layer with full analysis of the main IP protocols: TCP, UDP, and ICMP.
Our Review: The amount of traffic on our network that Commview recorded was staggering. Not to mention that it is a Windows 98 network where NetMon does not run very well. This program also monitors packets of data being sent from IP addresses. You can only view half of them in the trial version, but otherwise this program is just the best for system administrators tired of NetMon. It also allows you to view statistical information on all network traffic in real time, as well as create a log of all network traffic. Most notable enhancements in this version include full drag-and-drop support (allowing you to drag graphs, reports etc. into Explorer folders to export, or drag capture files from Explorer into the program) and the ability to have the program automatically generate report files.
