Finding files on hard drives can be a nightmare, and finding
files on removable disks such as CD-ROMs, Zip disks and
diskettes can be impossible. SuperCat lets you catalog all
your disks, so you'll never lose a file again.
Made for Windows 95/98, NT (4.0 or later), Me and 2000,
SuperCat is an easy-to-use utility for cataloging, searching
and managing removable disks (CD-ROM, Zip, Jaz, SuperDisk,
diskettes, etc.), hard disks and network drives.
SuperCat 4.2 is both easy to use for novice users, and has powerful
features required by professional users like, network administrators.
Working with catalogs (also referred to as indexes and indexfiles),
you can easily locate files on removable disks, even if the disk is
not physically accessible from your computer.
Our Review: This is a disk utility that mirrors largely the functions of Windows explorer. However, SuperCat has more features and is more configurable, thus delivering better results. Plenty of advanced features allow you to create superior catalogs - most notably the impressive ability to automatically add file comments to many file types by extracting info from within the file - eg: MP3 tag info, file_id.diz info from zip files, HTML header info from saved web-pages etc. Included also is a scheduler utility that will automatically re-index drive contents for your catalogue. SuperCat is a superior disk-cataloguer with a wide range of functions and options that other cataloguers lack.
