Secure Explorer is a full-featured file manager similar to Windows Explorer. However, the biggest difference is that this program provides a completely secure environment for data and documents on your system. It's capable of encrypting files and locking folders, thus making them inaccessible to other users. Like Explorer, Secure Explorer supplies its very own shell context menu. As you browse your hard drive, simply right-click an item and select the appropriate protection option from the menu. The program gives you the option of preventing Explorer from displaying these items. Meanwhile, files and folders are stored inside tabs on the interface, which require passwords for entry. Like Explorer, Secure Explorer supplies its very own shell context menu. Secure Explorer offers a few extra features for protecting your PC. The program lets you disable desktop shortcuts and Windows' Find File tool as well as control access to any desktop menu item. When you're away from the computer, you'll be able to completely lock down your hard drive. With the exception of a few Internet and LAN options, this program provides all of the standard features you'd find in Explorer. For example, you can view drive contents in different ways and move items with quick drag and drops. You can also defragment your disk. Our Review: This is an Explorer style utility which allows you to lock or encrypt everything on your computer so that it needs a password to be viewed, used or run. This means you can stop people from seeing things they shouldn't or that you don't want them to be able to. However, every time you switch between encrytped and non-encrypted files you must enter a password - which is not fun for those used to working quickly. All in all, Secure Explorer is a fine program - but before you undertake any sort of encryption procedure, I highly recommend, as always, that you download PGP and read all the documentation that goes along with it.
