SmartBoard is what is commonly known as a "Clipboard Extender". The normal Windows Clipboard is designed to keep track of a single piece of information ("clip-item") at a time. Sometimes in multiple different formats, but essentially the same basic data. If you copy a second piece of information to the Clipboard you lose what was there before. SmartBoard significantly enhances the capabilities of the Windows Clipboard by enabling the collection of multiple items. It does this by watching the Clipboard and automatically taking copies of any data that you have configured it to collect. By default it only collects Text, Bitmaps and Metafiles, and only then if they are under a particular size, but you can reconfigure it to suit your requirements. If for example you wanted to copy three different paragraphs and a couple of graphics from a Word document, and then paste them somewhere else, you could do so easily without having to switch between applications and cut/paste each element individually. Or maybe you want to copy two separate spreadsheet ranges and paste them somewhere else - that's possible too. But SmartBoard is much much more than a simple clipboard extender. The passwording, nicknaming and editting/reformatting capabilities it has combined with the ease and speed of access of the Paste-AnyPlace™ popup menu make it the ideal place to store frequently used text, or userid and password combinations, or Web Site addresses etc. ready for almost instant access. Our Review: SmartBoard 2000 is a clipboard extender that allows you to store multiple items that have been copied onto the clipboard. These are automatically categorised into groups such as text, bitmaps, META files...or you can add your own categories. Simple to use, very well designed and surprisingly powerful - if only all Adware was like this!
