FreeZip is a small, fast and efficient Zip utility for compression and decompression of files and directories in Windows 95/98/NT. FreeZip integrates with Windows Explorer and uses file associations and context menus to zip or unzip files, including long file names and subdirectories. If you know how to use Windows Explorer, then you do not have to learn anything new to use FreeZip. The setup is a single-click process and there are no options or settings involved.
Our Review: This is a shell extension which adds the ability to edit ZIP files simply by right clicking on them.
The interface is not too good as it uses components from DOS-based InfoZIP, and therefore opens a new DOS prompt every time you try to modify a ZIP file. To access the help file, it is also necessary to rightclick on a ZIP file. If you're comfortable with all this, FreeZip will make a nice free addition to your archiving arsenal.
