The PCS DNS Utility Suite is a collection of essential network diagnostic tools. These tools can help you find the IP address or hostname of a certain machine, scan a whole series of machines to find their IP addresses and hostnames, ping a remote machine to determine response time, traceroute to a machine to see where the connection passes through and how long each 'hop' takes, finger to see who is logged on at a particular machine, and scan remote machine ports to determine what services the machine provides. This suite also tells you about your local machine by displaying winsock and network information, such as local hostname, local IP address, adapters installed, MAC addresses, and Winsock Stack version and location. The output from all of the tools can be saved to a text file for printing, diagnosis, or future reference.
Our Review: This is a basic run-of-the-mill DNS suite. The good features include its easy-to-use tabbed toolbars, IP scanning, traceroute, ping, finger, port scanner, and local host information. This could be very helpful when diagnosing network problems.
