Directory Snoop is a utility program for Windows 95/98 that allows you to snoop around your disk drives at a very low level. Directory Snoop works on any uncompressed FAT12, FAT16, or FAT32 disk. It includes the following features: recover erased files, view the raw directory structures and file clusters, search/sort files, search files and raw clusters for content, permanently erase files and individual clusters with 4-pass wiping function, purge erased file names from directory structure, and map files and directories to cluster numbers Our Review: This is essentially a raw hard disk editor. Directory Snoop can be used to recover deleted files from clusters (if they are not yet overwritten), or to overwrite certain clusters which contain data which others are not supposed to know about. The File Allocation Table can also be viewed. This is an extremely powerful piece of software, and if used unwisely could bring a downfall to your computer. Caution is recommended.
