BakToNet is a utility to help protect your critical data. What is critical data, the data that you could not replace if all your local ability to get them went away. We don't consider programs critical files, these can be replaced or downloaded again, providing they have been properly registered. The standard today for hard drives are 2 to 20 Gigabytes, now your not going to backup anywhere near that amount of data on an internet server. But if you just look at your database files, your critical spreadsheets and output of other programs you will soon see how large your critical data is and the is different for different users. We use BakToNet for our source code, documentation for instance. These files are from 1 to 2 megabytes, and if set up properly BakToNet will only transferwhat is need and has been changed.
Our Review: BakToNet is a standard, acceptably tooled up net-backup utility with all the important functions accounted for. However, it is let down by some poor design. The interface is crude and the help section (although comprehensive) is rather poorly laid out. In the end these superficial quibbles don't really matter, yet they may be enough to turn the casual user away.
