Seal-It! is capable of creating digital signatures for Web pages that are either hosted by a Web server, or local standalone Web pages. Local files are signed in much the same way as Web hosted files accept that the page is accessed locally rather than from the server. After signing the page may be distributed in any fashion to third parties and subsequently viewed using an HTML viewer and the signature will be retained intact provided the page is not altered. The Web server is not required in order to verify the authenticity of a digital signature created with Seal-It!
Our Review: Seal-it! will add digital signatures to your webpage. The page will then display one of two pictures when it is loaded - a 'page not valid' picture, or a 'secure site' picture. These will indicate to users whether the page contents can be trusted or not. While Seal-it! has a standalone application, I found this a bit limiting, and it can probably be better used through either Frontpage, or Visual Interdev 6.0 - where Seal-it! automatically creates a menu item for easy insertion into your page.
