RedBox Organiser
This
is a very impressive application that works very similarly to the Schedule program
used in the MS Office package. However, RedBox Organiser has a much more user
friendly and graphical interface. Once you get used to the 'information overload'
sensations that may result from the sheer amount of information presented on-screen,
it's an excellent program. The 'linking' process is beautifully setup and will
allow you to sensibly tailor the program around the tasks that suit you. Very
easy to use and extremely poweful - definitely worth the download for anyone
looking for a new PIM.
Modem Booster
Modem Booster optimizes the modem settings so there is quick and efficient data
transmission between the modem, the ISP and the web. You need run it only once
and after that, the program's icon appears in the system tray each time you
establish a modem connection. Whilst this idea may seem to have been done many
times, Modem Booster will adjust your settings specifically for your ISP. The
'Auto-Tune Up' is the program's outstanding feature, and helps make the download
well worthwhile. Overall, an easy-to-use and useful application that extends
an otherwise old-hat idea brilliantly. This is suitable for novice to advanced
users.

Stay
Connected allows the user to employ a variety of techniques to prevent their
ISP from halting their internet access - stopping you being cut off from the
internet! We presume that it works by sending a busy signal down the phone line
to make your ISP believe your connection is still in use. AOL users also have
the extra benefits of killing the Buddy List window and any advertisement windows.
The program has been tested repeatedly with online times of more than 24 hours
- one user even reported 300 hours of uninterrupted internet access. A little
complicated to set up but if you have one of those evil ISPs that cuts off your
connection due to inactivity, this is well worth the look. This newer version
is Windows 2000 compatible. Visual Calendar Planner -- Link just updated, check
our site for this product. Visual Calendar Planner is a simple and easy to use
PIM. A full screen display of the month or week allows you to see your tasks
at a glance. The interface looks rather dated in today's marketplace, unfortunately.
Featurewise, the program has little to make it stand our from the rest although
you can set your calendar as your background automatically which is great as
it means you have your monthly or weekly planner without having to start the
program!
Visual
Day Planner
This is a month at-a-time day planner. It is very easy to use, legible and colourful
with a good number of clip-art options, colours and fonts that can be used within
the program. It even has a fast search function allowing for immediate retrieval
of a particular day/month/year. The program interface is just like InKline's
Visual Calender Planner - both of which are slightly dated in appearance but
highly functional, nonetheless. Visual Day Planner has some nice additional
features, such as a collection of clip-art. This is an easy to use and intuitive
program, whose longevity and functionality may well merit the use of the term
"Classic".
